Μετράνε τέσσερις δίσκους στο ενεργητικό τους με τον πέμπτο, με τίτλο 'Give The People What They Want', να επρόκειτο να κυκλοφορήσει τον περασμένο Αύγουστο, όταν όμως η Sharon Jones διαγνώστηκε με καρκίνο.
Η δυναμική frontwoman που κατέχει τη φλόγα του James Brown (γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην ίδια πόλη με τον θρυλικό τραγουδιστή, την Augusta της Georgia), αποδείχθηκε πως είναι και σκληρό καρύδι, μιας και σήμερα έχει επανέλθει δριμύτερη και νικήτρια. Το 'Retreat' δεν ακούγεται απλά σαν έναν θριαμβευτικός επιζήσαντας της soul, αλλά συνοδεύεται κι από ένα τέλειο video, με επιρροές από Yellow Submarine, Fantastic Planet, The Wall μέχρι και Eλληνική μυθολογία. Το 'Give The People What You Want' θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 14 Ιανουαρίου 2014.

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings are bent on reinstating soul and funk music to it's former 60's and 70's glory. Counting a total of four albums so far, their fifth one, 'Give The People What They Want', was scheduled to come out last August, when Sharon Jones was diagnosed with cancer.
The dazzling frontwoman, that is said to have the same flame burning inside of her as James Brown (she was born and raised in the same town as him, Augusta, Georgia) proved to be a hard nut to crack as she has returned victorious. 'Retreat' does not only sound like a soul survivor's creation, but is also accompanied by a perfect video, drawing inspiration from Yellow Submarine, Fantastic Planet, The Wall and even Greek mythology. 'Give The People What They Want' will be out January 14 2014.
