Εχτές το πρωί οι Coldplay έγραψαν στη σελίδα τους στο Facebook πως «κάτι καινούριο έρχεται τα μεσάνυχτα». Η αλήθεια είναι πως είπαν ακριβώς όσα χρειάζονταν να πουν με αυτές τις πέντε λέξεις. Οι Βρετανοί ετοιμάζουν το έκτο τους άλμπουμ και το 'Midnight' είναι το πρώτο track που, ίσως να και ίσως να μην συμπεριληφθεί σε αυτό. Πάντως είναι σίγουρα νέο από κάθε άποψη. Ο Chris Martin ανακάλυψε το vocoder, οι κιθάρες που άλλοτε θα γέμιζαν τα στάδια απουσιάζουν και η γνωστή κλιμάκωση προς το τέλος του τραγουδιού, σήμα κατατεθέν των Coldplay, σε προσγειώνει πάλι στο πρωτόγνωρα, για τα δεδομένα τους, ατμοσφαιρικό ύφος του. Προσπερνώντας το γεγονός πως στην παραγωγή βρίσκεται η αδυναμία μας, ο Jon Hopkins, δηλώνουμε πως μας αρέσει πολύ αυτό το καινούριο μονοπάτι μιας μπάντας που δεν φαίνεται να κάθεται για πολύ, ακίνητη στο ίδιο μέρος.

Yesterday, early in the AM Coldplay wrote on their Facebook page that "something new is coming at 00:00". The truth is that all that needed to be said was included in those words. The UKers are preparing their sixth album and 'Midnight' is the first track that may or may not be included in it. One thing is for sure though; it is new in every way. Chris Martin got acquainted with the vocoder, the stadium filling guitar riffs are totally absent and their trademark climax near the end of the song leads back to a surprisingly chilly, slow yet intense momentum. Besides the fact that our great weakness, Jon Hopkins, is behind the production, we hereby state that we love this new path of a band that can't seem to be able to stay in one place for too long.
